A Tale of 3Goals and 2Assists

After so much fiddling, I came up with this title as I tried my possible best to make sense of ManUtd’s blisteringly arresting first opening 20-30mins, in the game against Fulham, at the Craven Cottage. 3goals, from open play, for a team that has struggled to even create chances, created by Rooney, robin Van Persie and Januzaj, scored by Valencia, Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney. To me, it was really surreal to see our main strikers creating and scoring the goals and my eyes were glued on Robin Van Persie and Rooney, ManUtd’s ‘R2’ and what next they would do.
If you’re an ardent follower or supporter of ManUtd, especially in the new eon and under the leadership and gaffer-ship of David Moyes, then, you’d likely understand why my focus is on ManUtd’s R2 after watching them against Fulham. For the very first time this season, after been termed “the best in the world” by Moyes, R2 replied and reacted in the most ruthless of manners as we saw them come out to help each other, teammates, ManUtd and ultimately, their under-pressure manager, David Moyes, by playing an unselfish brand of football and lucidly underlining that we might get to see that R2 partnership finally reaching its potential, especially if that spirit shown against Fulham is maintained.
It’d be for the interest of everyone who loves ManUtd that R2 can really maintain that altruistic spirit because they are so deleteriously endowed and if you recall how RVP scored the second goal, you’d know that if they continue with it, to always find each other no matter where, then, there’s no doubt that with so many more games to play, ManUtd would have a lot to smile and celebrate about. David Moyes, I’m sure would be the first to actually admit that seeing both of them combine like that, with the help of Januzaj, persistently, can only mean one thing, MORE WINS!!!
So, why am I seriously talking about this? Well, it’s been a challenging start to life under David Moyes, every ManUtd fan understands that, and this season, we can all admit that Rooney has been a bit selfish. That said, it was the first time this season that both Rooney and RVP, R2, thought about each-other and the team, first, before deciding on which line of action to take. Look at the first goal, rewind 4games back and Rooney would have tried to score that himself, but this time, he waited, looked up, saw Valencia and ensured he passed that ball to him, and ManUtd was 1goal up. We indeed can only hope for the best as we begin to steady the ship, ManUtd, with the help of R2 continuing in their newly found unselfish spirit whilst being supported by Kagawa, Januzaj, Valencia and Chicharito, all potential match winners and game changers on their own days.
As we move our searchlight to the UCL, in the game against Sociedad, it is my believe that we’d get to see more of the same from R2 because that can only lead us to another critically positive outcome, an away win on Tuesday and surely a qualification ticket to the next stage, albeit, permutation-ally.
Good luck R2, good luck ManUtd, even as we continue to chant the GLORY GLORY MANUTD… song
